Former NYCSCA Senior Director, Elan Abneri, PE,
Appointed President of Velocity
Architecture & Engineering Group, DPC.

New York, NY, May 11, 2020 – BRAVO, A Cooperative Company, has appointed former New York City School Construction Authority (SCA) Senior Director, Elan Abneri, P.E., as President of Velocity Architecture & Engineering Group, DPC. Mr. Abneri will provide strategic direction and help drive critical growth initiatives for Velocity, the architectural and engineering services division of BRAVO. He will report to Ehab Shehata, BRAVO’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

Prior to joining Velocity, Mr. Abneri served as Senior Director of the SCA’s Design Consultant Management Studio. In this role, he was responsible for leading their team of design managers and project managers as they oversaw the agency’s design consultants for their Emergency, Capacity and Capital Improvement Project (CIP) programs. He also played a key role in development of the agency’s last three Five-Year Capital Plans, totaling approximately $40 billion dollars. Mr. Abneri started his career with the SCA in 1990 as an Assistant Manager with their Plumbing & Drainage Unit and rapidly advanced through the agency in various management and leadership roles.

In addition to his three decades of service at the SCA, Mr. Abneri has also served as a Mechanical Engineer in the Sanitary Unit of the Long Island City Board of Education and a Project Manager in the Capital Programs-Design of Mechanical Systems Department of the Health and Hospitals Corporation of New York City. He has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Hofstra University and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York.
